Celebrates 40 years of sports in the local community
The club was formed in 1967 by four enthusiastic young men that were keen to play social Sunday soccer against hotels and business houses. As no team shirts were available it was suggested that all players try and find some sort of yellow shirt and they arrived at the first game with shirts from faded to gaudy and only vaguely yellow. The biggest problem the team encountered was the significant expense of a soccer ball. In fact they had to borrow a ball for the first couple of games. A ball in those days cost about a weeks pay, so balls were not as plentiful as they are today.
In 1979 the club chairman wrote in the annual report:
“I would like to see further advances made for the future of our club – our own grounds, teams in the Saturday competition (CFA) and I hope that this club should not, like many others, get too distant from it’s members.”
From that point in time the club has expanded to having teams in a range of competitions:
